Pine-Richland coach arrested on charges of having sexual relationship with player 

The Pine-Richland High School varsity girls basketball coach was arrested and charged today with having an inappropriate sexual relationship with a 16-year-old player.

Cliff Foster, 33, is set to be arraigned at District Judge William Wagner office's this afternoon on charges of institutional sexual assault and corruption of a minor. The Pine-Richland School District has suspended him as coach and released a statement to parents saying the incident is thought to be an isolated case.

North Regional police Chief Robert Amann said police started their examination after an agent from the Allegheny County Department of Human Services' Office of Children, Youth and Families called Thursday to say they got a report of conceivable improper relationship between a secondary school understudy and Mr. Foster. The boss couldn't expound further on the report to CYF.

Mr. Foster was the young lady's Pittsburgh Rise Amateur Athletic Union b-ball mentor, the boss said. The unseemly relationship started in April and finished on Monday, he said.

Mr. Foster built up the Pittsburgh Rise AAU b-ball club, which had six groups last season from fifth grade through eleventh grade. Foster guided the tenth and eleventh graders the previous spring and summer and the group once in a while made a trip to competitions around the nation.

"This relationship carried on amid AAU ball excursions to Louisville (Ky.), Chicago, Washington, D.C., Dayton, Ohio and Philadelphia," Chief Amann said.

In an announcement, Superintendent Brian R. Mill operator said the locale educated of the CYF report on Thursday and is leading its own particular examination.

"The area is stunned by the charges' way," the announcement said to a limited extent. "... We unequivocally esteem the significance of moral conduct and the obligation of working with youngsters. We can't stress enough the area's need of giving a protected and secure environment for all."

A champion ball player amid his days at Knoch High School, Mr. Foster went ahead to play at La Roche College. He is individual from the La Roche College Athletic Hall of Fame.
