The new release was not released in press meet but in a statue outside Google’s office in California. This Is the 13th  android version, renamed iteration for Linux based OS.

We all eagerly waited for the new android version and giving names after desserts gives “TASTY TREAT” feeling.  Most of us thought about that this version might go about 5.1 to 5.2, but Google is here with new surprise!! It’s the version 6.0.
The fun is in the number game going in here, we had cupcake which was started from Android 1.5!! then there comes Donut with Android 1.6 and the thought came as next would be 1.7 but Éclair version of 2.0 to 2.1; after that Froyo 2.2 to 2.2.3; GingerBread from 2.3 to 2.3.7; Honey comb 3.0 to 3.2.6

Now there comes our favorites, Ice Cream Sandwich with 4.0 to 4.0.4, Jelly Bean from 4.1 to 4.3.1, KitKat from 4.4 to 4.4 & 4.4W – 4.4.W2; The last update before MarshMallow was Lollipop which was lollipop from 5.0 to 5.1.1 now seeing the previous progression here we all assumed the version might go from 5.1 to 5.2 but Google always gives us hard surprises!! (But that’s what we love about!!)
So after proving many assumptions wrong, Google announced Marshmallow!! Let’s watch out for what MarshMallow is giving us in near future as the apart from users of Nexus series the other update versions are not there for other customers.

There are certain changes in API which can be seen here, some of them are as given below
  • Android Platform Change:
    • Final Permissions User Interface — we updated the permissions user interface and enhanced some of the permissions behavior.
  • API Change:
    • Updates to the Fingerprint API — which enables better error reporting, better fingerprint enrollment experience, plus enumeration support for greater reliability
